Altitude, acclimatisation and the gear you actually need — everything you should know before your first mountain trip.
Overview
The Himalayas are breathtaking — quite literally. Acclimatising properly is the single most important thing you can do to enjoy your trip and stay safe.
Spend at least two nights at intermediate altitude before going higher, stay hydrated, and listen to your body.
Layering is key: a base layer, an insulating mid-layer and a waterproof shell will see you through everything from sunny afternoons to freezing nights.
